If you have a lot of hours on them you may want to consider a new set of 12AX7 at the very least. Otherwise I suspect you have one or more failing tubes. A tube like this should be replaced. Despite the all clear from a local amp tech, the issue remains. If everything looks to be ok then I would suggest a technician have a look. lately I change my stock 12AX7 tubes to vintage tubes, it was found that 1 of the channel speaker produce sharp noise when turning the amp volume knob, but it is OK when did not touch the volume knob. I did notice that once of the power tubes blue glow appears to be slightly brighter than the other. If the problem followed the tubes then it is more than likely the tube is the issue. This is sometimes due to wrong biasing of the amp, which really isn’t a tube problem. Check and replace and blown fuse and try again. You can gently shake the tube as well and listen for rattling. In some tubes it’s more intense than others, but this is not a problem. People recommend tubes that doesn’t have a spiral filament in the “cathode follower” position (Chinese tubes usually).
